FAAWO offers free seminars, resources, and mentorship to Florida animal welfare organizations. The FAAWO Education Committee's goal is to empower and strengthen Florida’s animal welfare organizations by providing learning experiences that engage participants to improve their skills, based on animal welfare best practices. The Committee members meet on a quarterly basis, and more often as needed to identify potential speakers and topics. Yearly, the committee presents a budget and speaker schedule for board approval.
Seminar presenters are recognized leaders in either the nonprofit and/or animal welfare world, recognized for their proven success in their area of expertise. Seminar topics offer innovative, lifesaving, and impactful information to enhance our member agencies ability to provide successful program service. Seminar Topics range from shelter standards and management, fund development, disaster preparedness and response, safety net services, etc.
The FAAWO Legislative Committee supports the FAAWO board of directors by providing information, education and updates on animal welfare legislation being considered by the Florida Legislature. FAAWO Legislative Committee members participate in regularly scheduled calls prior to and throughout the legislative session, present updates to the board, and make recommendations about FAAWO’s official positions on legislation. Committee members participate in legislative advocacy efforts at the state Capitol in Tallahassee.
The FAAWO Marketing Committee oversees a consistent and active communication and recruitment strategy for FAAWO and our member organizations. Utilizing both traditional and new communication tools the Marketing Committee provides information to members regarding educational opportunities, best practices, legislative initiatives, conferences and progressive programs and services provided by our FAAWO member organizations. The Marketing Committee also focuses on building and developing relationships with key animal welfare partners in support of our current efforts while working on creative outreach programs that will invite new partners to join our mission.
The FAAWO membership committee supports the FAAWO board of directors by organizing and implementing effective programs to recruit new members and retain current members. The committee maintains the current membership database and provides monthly reports to the board. These reports include current, lapsed and pending members. In addition, the membership committee attends quarterly on-site meetings where they present the current membership status and upcoming recruitment efforts.
